This project used creative problem-solving to build predictive models in SAS Enterprise Miner, aiming to understand student academic performance in two Portuguese schools. Based on data from school reports and questionnaires (including grades, demographics, social, and school factors), the goal was to predict which students would achieve above-average final grades in Portuguese. Various models, including decision trees, regressions, and neural networks, were developed following data preprocessing steps like imputation and skewness reduction. Finally, models were compared using the ROC index and Average Squared Error (ASE) to identify the most effective predictive model and key variables.

This project showcased Python machine learning skills by building a Variational Autoencoder (VAE) with Keras/TensorFlow to classify anomalies in computer network data. Initially, the data was imported and split into Benign and Attack datasets. The Benign data was further divided into training and testing sets and scaled using MinMaxScaler. Key steps included setting hyperparameters, defining the VAE's Encoder, Sampling, and Decoder layers, and specifying the loss function (reconstruction + KL Divergence) with an Adam optimizer before training.

Following training, the loss curve was graphed, and predictions were made on both Benign and Attack test data. An appropriate anomaly detection threshold was identified through trial and error, guided by graphical observation. This threshold was then formally validated using a suite of metrics including TPR, TNR, FPR, FNR, Precision, F1-Score, and an ROC curve with AUC, aiming to ensure the model accurately classified anomalies.

This project demonstrates SQL skills focused on database optimization and data analysis. It involved writing SQL code to create views, analyze query execution costs, and implement indexes to reduce those costs. Sequential views were also developed using window functions (OVER, PARTITION BY, ROWS BETWEEN) to analyze product-specific data trends over time. The work utilized CREATE OR REPLACE VIEW statements and functions like LAG, SUM, along with standard clauses like WHERE and ORDER BY. Finally, the generated information was analyzed to provide actionable insights.

Stock Market

This project aimed to predict the price of a specific NYSE stock by developing an LSTM (Long Short-Term Memory) model using TensorFlow, leveraging LSTM's strength in sequential data analysis. Stock data was sourced from Yahoo Finance and initially plotted to visualize historical movements. Data preparation involved extracting closing prices, splitting the data into training and validation sets, normalizing it with MinMaxScaler, and reshaping it appropriately for the LSTM model.

The LSTM model was built with 100 neurons per layer, compiled using the Adam optimizer, and trained over 50 epochs. Following training, the predicted scaled values were reverted to their actual price scale using the inverse MinMaxScaler. Finally, the model's predictions were evaluated against the real stock prices to assess accuracy, and the results were graphically presented by plotting the predicted prices alongside the historical stock data.
